Since our launch in 1992, the team at North Staffs Pensioners' Convention has worked tirelessly to promote our cause. We are fortunate to have volunteers from all walks of life who bring their unique expertise and resources into everything we do. This is what enables us to achieve our goals year after year.
While there is always more that can be done, there is no doubt that we are making a significant impact. We don’t measure our success through just facts and figures, but through happy faces and heartwarming feedback. See how you can become part of the difference.
A Statement from the Chairman Before our meeting commenced on the 5th August 2024. I wish to make a statement as chairman of the North Staffs Pensioners' convention. I wish to condemn the mindless violence that we have seen on our streets over the last few days, in particular in Hanley on last Saturday. We as the North Staffs Pensioners' strongly believe in the right of the people to protest. We have a credited record of protesting .... Bed closing, hospital closing, closure of public toilets, civic offices over rent, Railway ticket office closures, BBC radio stoke over program changes and the Tv Licence. I could go on and on and in no doubt we will be protesting again. But what was witnessed on Saturday in Hanley was not people using their rights to protest, It was violence against the establishment, police and the public, hiding under the banner of legitimate protest. One small group was holding a protest to stand up to the racist chants and are to be credited. Buses having to be rerouted, shops, cafes and public houses having to close. Members of the public having to find shelter in shops with staff, Children who were in the local theatre's were kept there for their safety, Roads were closed and property was damaged. It was organised thugs some being from out of the area, who caused disruption to the lives of many people through thoughtless violence. We in the North Staffs Pensioners' have a history organising protests but in the proper way. Whilst we may not agree with some peoples views or decisions we use our right to question them, but also with respect which we continue to get back. We support the authorities in dealing with the aggression and law breaking of these protestor's. I have had the privilege of taking part in many marches and protests as a of member of my trade union and this Convention, and i hope if the need arises to do it, again and again. We all need to stand up for law and order and our rights, but to do it right and respectfully way.
